About Us

Spire Learning was set up by Catherine Cowie, a qualified teacher with 25 years’ experience in a variety of classroom and 1-1 settings. Catherine graduated with a Classics degree from the University of Oxford in 2002, then gained a PGCE (University of Cambridge) and subsequently Qualified Teacher Status in 2003. She also qualified as a piano teacher with a DipABRSM in 2008.

Since qualifying as a teacher, Catherine has worked in many different settings, including teaching Classics, Religious Studies and Music in schools such as the Royal Grammar School Guildford, Millfield and more recently Godolphin School in Salisbury. As a result, Catherine has a wealth of experience of teaching all ages and abilities, including students with Special Educational Needs, and preparing students for exams, including 11+, 13+, GCSE and A-level. Her expertise lies in helping students master the skills they need to think critically, work effectively and succeed in exams.
